Here are the 5 best business ideas for you to start in 2025.

In partnership with

Hey, thanks for joining for another week of New Venture Weekly.

The year is about to come to a close (although part of me still feels like it just started) so I wanted to do something a little different and take a look at the 5 best business ideas for 2025.

I won’t go into too much depth on any of them in this week’s newsletter but I’ll do a deeper dive into each of them over the next few weeks.

I’ll also be sending a small “wrapped“ style email out on the 31st to share the most popular ideas from the last year so keep an eye out for that!

Let’s jump in!

The best businesses solve specific problems

Are you tired of wasting time and resources on business ideas that don’t work? It’s not because you’re not smart or hardworking - it's because you’re not focused on solving the right problems.

Here’s a database of problems begging for a better solution.

Idea #1 - Mircoplastic Testing Kits

Brian Johnson (the guy hell-bent on not dying) recently launched their own microplastic testing kit.

There aren’t many of these kits around but I can see them being as popular (if not more) as at-home testosterone kits.

I also wrote a business idea breakdown on microplastic-based business ideas a few months ago if you want to check it out.

Here’s Huberman talking about the dangers of microplastics and how prevalent they are in our food and packaging.

  • Study finds microplastics in 93% of bottled water (source)

  • Microplastics have been found in 90% of protein (Meta, Seafood, Plant-Based Meat) (source)

  • Almost all burgers, steaks and chicken contain microplastics. (source)

  • 69% of clothing is currently made with highly flammable and toxic plastics. (source)

Idea #2 - Sell Pre-Revenue Micro-SaaS Companies

A few weeks ago I broke down how to create SaaS clones using AI and no-code tools like Bubble.

This follows a similar format but the idea is that you create micro-saas tools using AI or no-code and sell them for $1-5k as pre-revenue products.

You can use sites like Microns, Acquire, Flippa or PreRevMarket to sell these.

You could easily make and sell 2-3 of these a month just by yourself if you are skilled enough at building software tools, or willing to put in the time to learn.

Idea #3 - Web Scraping Agency + Datasets

This one is fairly simple - create an agency that helps people create web scrapers for certain needs (like collecting leads, competitor information or financial data).

You can also offer datasets that you sell as digital products like BuiltWith.

This model allows both one-time and recurring fees and can be adjusted based on the size of the project/dataset.

Idea #4 - Broken Hips

350,000 hips are broken every year in the United States and 90% are senior citizens.

The economic impact is substantial, with annual healthcare spending for non-fatal falls among older adults reaching $80 billion in 2020, and projected to exceed $101 billion by 2030.

A simple business for this would be to specialize in installing anti-slip flooring, grab bars, improved lighting, and other senior-friendly home modifications.

Another preventative type of business would be physical exercise groups for senior citizens that get them moving, fit and healthy. Think running clubs but for old people.

Idea #5 - Personalized Learning

In 1999, 1.7% of school-aged children were homeschooled. Cut to 2019 and that number was 3.2%. Estimates believe that in 2024 that number is 6.7%.

There are a number of factors for the shift to homeschooling, but one of the main reasons is that standardized teaching doesn't cater to the diverse learning styles of students.

According to the same source, homeschooled students tend to score 15 to 25 percentile points higher on standardized tests compared to public school students.

You could create STEM kits for homeschooled children with hands-on experiments and projects aligned to different age groups and homeschool curriculums.

Or you could create AI-assisted, gamified learning tools for K-12 and adult learners, focusing on subjects like math and languages.

The last two ideas in this newsletter came directly from the Problems & Pain Points database.
