Hey, thanks for joining for another week of New Venture Weekly.

Everyone online is chasing the next big thing. Often, that's building a huge, complex SaaS from scratch.

But what if you could bypass the months of development, the endless coding, and the massive upfront investment?

Here’s the truth:

AI coding has become so good that building functional software no longer requires an army of developers or a year-long sprint. It's about smart execution and leveraging the right tools.

This week, I’m breaking down how to build a micro-SaaS in just 72 hours using AI, covering:

  • Real-world examples of AI-powered micro-SaaS

  • Niches you could target

  • A step-by-step playbook to go from idea to MVP

  • Simple marketing strategies to get your first users

So let’s jump in!

🛠 How to Build

Building a functional SaaS MVP in a weekend isn't crazy with AI. I’ve done it, so I know you can too. Here's how:

  • Step 0: Choose Your Audience. Don't start with an idea, start with who you're building for. Deeply understand a specific community's pain points. They'll tell you what they need. I have hundreds of pain points you can solve here.

  • Step 1: Research Competition. Use an AI tool (like Gemini or ChatGPT) to find existing solutions for your audience's problem. Note what they do well and what they're missing.

  • Step 2: Get Honest Feedback (from AI). Take your core idea and ask an AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok) to "grill" it with 20 tough questions. This forces critical thinking before you build.

  • Step 3: Write a 1-Page PRD. If your idea holds up, have AI write a basic Product Requirements Document. This is your blueprint outlining target audience, features, UX, and strategy.

  • Step 4: Break UI into "Shippable Chunks." Ask your AI to divide your app's UI into small, manageable sections, describing each page and its user flow.

  • Step 5: Generate UI. Feed those UI chunks into v0.dev (or similar AI UI generators). This tool churns out actual code for your user interface. Tweak prompts until it looks right.

  • Step 6: Connect the Backend. Download your UI code. Use an AI-integrated code editor (Cursor, VS Code + Copilot) to add database and backend logic. AI helps you write and debug code fast.

🚀 How to Grow

  • Niche Community Engagement: Find where your audience hangs out (Reddit, Discord, forums). Be helpful, share your journey, and gently introduce your solution. Don't spam, build trust.

  • Product Hunt Launch: Plan a solid launch day, get upvotes from your network, and engage with comments. This can bring an initial wave of users and validation. Also use alternative sites to PH like tinystartups and BetaList

  • Content Marketing (AI-Assisted): Create valuable content (blogs, videos, infographics) addressing your audience's pain points. Use AI to help with ideas, outlines, and drafts. Share it where your audience is.

  • Twitter/X Threads: Share your build journey, showcase features, and explain the problem your SaaS solves in engaging threads. Use screenshots and short demos.

  • Leverage Your Personal Brand: Share your building process, challenges, and wins with your existing audience. They're your first testers and promoters.

  • Direct Outreach (AI-Personalised Emails): For B2B, use AI to craft highly personalised cold emails. Focus on the value for the recipient, not just features.

  • Freemium/Free Trial: Lower the barrier to entry. Let users experience the value first-hand before committing with a free tier or trial.

  • Niche Influencer Partnerships: Collaborate with creators who already have your target audience. Think sponsored posts, joint webinars, or affiliate deals.

  • Early Adopter Programs/Beta Groups: Invite a small, engaged group to test, give feedback, and help refine your product. This builds ownership and word-of-mouth.
